Design Interview Questions: Ask Them

December 15, 2016 by Erin Trampel Uncategorized 0 comments

When attending a job interview there is one thing that many interviewees forget: you aren’t the only one being evaluated. You are also trying to decide if the company that you are interviewing with is somewhere that you would like to work. This means that you should not only be answering questions, but also evaluating the person interviewing you and asking questions of your own.

Most interviewers make time for these questions towards the end of the interview, when they will ask you if you have any questions for them. Here are a few questions to consider when going into an interview. Plan to ask four or five questions by the time the interview is over.

About the Company

What is the company’s main goal for the future?

How does the company measure and define success?

What do you enjoy most about working for the company? What do you enjoy least?

How long do employees stay with the company?

How would you describe the working environment here? Is work done in a collaborative style or are employees more independent?

About the Position

What would make a person in this position successful?

Who does this position report to?

Why was this position created? (why did the last person leave; is the company growing or replacing?)

Now that we’ve talked about my qualifications and the job, do you have any concerns about my being successful in this position

Can you tell me what the career paths are for this department and what sort of advancements I could work towards?
