who are you

Erin Trampel was born in 1992. She grew up in Kamrar, a small farming community in central Iowa. Her father farms corn and beans, and raises hogs. Her mother is an XRay tech in nearby Webster City. After graduating from Webster City High School she attended the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. There she started her education in Art Education but in her Sophomore year she realized that keeping track of 28 eight year olds who all had paint was too much for a day to day career and chose to switch to Graphic Design.

After graduating from UNI Erin moved to Kansas City to find a wider variety of jobs. She was hired by Brunson Instrument Company three months after graduation. After being laid off in fall 2016 Erin began working as a freelance designer until she was offered a position as a contracted employee at Empower Retirement where she works on a variety of templated and original designs.

I also received a Minor in Art History. The graphic design program at UNI is in the art department, and therefore offers a more loose look at graphic design. The three professors each teach their own style of design, giving the students a wide range of exposure. They also encourage a lot of research into styles and require that students have reasoning behind why they choose a style for a particular project.
